Building Tomorrow

I wanted to start off my thanking everyone so much for reading along with my blog and providing such amazing support and words of encouragement. It means so much. Thank you.

Today we worked with Building Tomorrow an organization that builds schools for under-served children in Africa. The school is located about an hour north of Kampala and is 4 months away from being completed. We helped move the project along today by planting Matoke (green banana trees) in the yard,  digging a ditch for water irrigation, and even created a few bricks to be used building the remaining parts of the school. Each brick is hand made by the local people. An incredible amount of hard work, energy and love from international supporters and the local community is going into building this school. .

I can't wait to see it come together.  A definite highlight of the day was playing with the village children who are currently being schooled underneath trees. This school will provide them the support and educational structure they deserve.

Tomorrow we are off for 2 days to Shanti Uganda, a rural birthing center. There is no internet access and limited electricity. I look forward to sharing my experiences here when I return back to Kampala on Saturday.

Love.

Simple pleasures.

The children loved seeing their photos after they were snapped. After each picture they would circle around the camera giggling at their photos.

Farewell song and dance.

Beautiful Uganda.

Hi Jamie

What a fabulous story you have been writing. It's amazing what you are doing because you can see it on the smiles of the kids, especially your new friend Kasha.

Looking forward to more daily blogs after you get back from the mini trip.

Lots of love
